Managing Director, UK and Ireland
David Swarbrick joined us as Managing Director of BAM PPP UK and Ireland in 2020.
David is responsible for the leadership and development of the UK and Ireland business unit, managing the existing portfolio and further building on BAM PPP’s strong track record in the PPP market. In addition to focussing on our traditional PPP market in the UK and Ireland, David is looking to lead our diversification in our home markets including into energy transition and digital infrastructure projects. He is also leading the development of new international markets on the back of our successful first Australian investment in Cross River Rail, Brisbane.
David has worked for over 20 years in public private partnerships including roles in the UK National Health Service and a social housing provider. He spent 16 years at Balfour Beatty Investments where he held a number of senior managerial positions, latterly as their UK and Ireland Managing Director, delivering major, complex property and infrastructure developments in sectors as diverse as healthcare, schools, student accommodation, residential development, renewable energy generation and distribution, waste and highways.
“After a couple of years away from the infrastructure sector I was delighted to be approached by BAM PPP to lead their UK and Ireland team and to support our development in new international markets. I’ve joined at a fantastic time, just as giant Dutch-based pension fund PGGM took a 50% stake in our company. It means we have now have a real ambition for growth, with the credibility and deep resources that PGGM provide matched by the deep experience and know-how we already have within the team. I’m looking forward to the challenge of explaining the depth and breadth of what we now have to offer as a team to new partners and clients in the new sectors we are targeting in UK and Ireland, and to new target markets in North America, Australia and Scandinavia".
David now lives in London and in his spare time he enjoys cooking, eating out and running. He has recently learnt how to SCUBA dive and is just waiting for the end of travel restrictions to get back to the sea floor somewhere warm.
