BAM PPP is delivering the world’s largest sea lock in The Netherlands, a demonstration of our ability to enter new sectors backed up by our diverse wealth of talent and expertise.

After almost 100 years in operation, the Northern Lock in IJmuiden will be replaced with a new, larger lock system to improve the accessibility of the port of Amsterdam, and the new lock will be available for shipping early 2022.

We are also carrying out major reconstruction on the Afsluitdijk to protect large parts of the Netherlands against flooding. The project includes building Europe’s largest pumping station and innovative measures include specially developed Levvel blocks, designed by BAM Infra, which will be used to reinforce the causeway on the Wadden Sea side. Safety and Sustainability is also a top priority and careful consideration is being given to reducing energy consumption and protecting local ecology and wildlife.
