Ghent Student Accommodation

Ghent Student Accommodation was the first Belgian accommodation design, build, finance, operation, and maintenance contract.

SPV General Manager Sven Daelemans outlined the background to the Ghent Student Accommodation project.

"The project encompassed 656 student apartments, a new university student restaurant seating approximately 400 students, and underground car parking.

"A key objective was to make maximum use of space by including as many apartments as possible on the available space, taking into account the building height restrictions in place.

"Other criteria were flexibility, logical set up of the design, and architecturally fitting in the surroundings."

BAM PPP worked on the project with its Belgian sister company CEI-de Meyer as construction partner. The maintenance contractors were Imtech Maintenance and ThyssenKrupp.
